Jio Star Appoints Vivek Mohan Sharma as Business Head
Jio Star has named Vivek Mohan Sharma as the business head of its Youth, Music, and English cluster, in a move announced after the departure of Anshul Ailawadi, sources familiar with the matter revealed. This follows a spate of recent additions to the leadership team aimed at bolstering content strategy in those areas, people close to the matter said.
Ailawadi, as business head of the Youth, Music, and English cluster, was pivotal in enhancing and establishing the brand's digital presence around key tentpole properties, thereby increasing overall market visibility and engagement activities to quite an extent.
Sharma, who joined Viacom18 in 2021, will now assume leadership of the Youth, Music, and English cluster. With nearly two decades of experience in revenue generation, marketing, content creation, and strategic management, he has successfully led cross-functional teams across diverse industries such as media, telecom, and banking, driving innovation and growth.
In his previous role, Sharma established the Network Sales Branded Content team from scratch, leading the development of successful campaigns such as Cricket Ka Ticket, Royal Stag Boom Box, and Imperial Blue.
Ailawadi, a key member of the organization for the past 11 years, has stepped down to pursue new opportunities. He began his journey as a strategy and project lead in the group CEO’s office at Viacom18, which eventually merged with Star India to form Jio Star.
