Jharkhand Wins 15th Hockey India Women's National Championship 2025

Jharkhand toppled defending champion Haryana with a 4-3 shootout victory in the final of the 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2025 in Panchkula on Wednesday.

Pramodni Lakra (44') made one goal for the champions, whereas Captain Rani Rampal (42') scored net for Haryana since both teams had leveled 1-1 in the four quarters.

It was a closely fought first half as both teams barely erred at the back. Haryana held possession for most of the initial minutes though, Jharkhand also had their share of time and earned a penalty corner which they were unable to convert. Both teams wasted a penalty corner apiece as the match remained goalless at half-time.

In the 42nd minute, Haryana received a penalty corner that it successfully converted due to a masterful hit by Rani past a horde of defenders. Jharkhand immediately responded two minutes later by a field goal. Haryana relaxed in defence, which allowed Promodni to find an opening past the keeper.

Both teams came out blazing in the last quarter. In the 51st minute, Rani picked up the ball within the circle and was inches from scoring a winner.

During the shootout, Rajni Kerketta, Nirali Kujur, Binima Dhan and Captain Alebla Rani Toppo scored their attempts. Pinki, Annu and Manisha scored during the shootout for Haryana but Jharkhand goalkeeper Anjali Bhinjia saved two attempts to win the match.

Mizoram beat Maharashtra 2-1 in the third-place match to win the bronze medal. Devika Sen (6') had given Mizoram the first goal before Maharashtra levelled thanks to Ashwini Kolekar. In the 59th minute, Manju Chorsiya had scored a field goal to help Mizoram earn a medal.
