The Tamil film industry has been shaken by the online leak of Jana Nayagan, a highly anticipated political thriller starring Vijay.
The incident has drawn strong condemnation from leading actors including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Suriya, who have collectively called for stricter anti-piracy measures and greater accountability.
Directed by H. Vinoth, the film was reportedly leaked online just days before its release, triggering widespread outrage. Rajinikanth described the leak as “painful and distressing,” urging authorities to identify the culprits and impose strict punishment. He emphasized that such acts must not continue unchecked.

Kamal Haasan offered a deeper critique, linking the leak to systemic issues such as delays in the Central Board of Film Certification process. He argued that prolonged certification disputes often push audiences toward illegal platforms, thereby fueling film piracy.
He stressed that piracy harms the entire ecosystem, including artists, technicians, producers, and exhibitors, and called for faster certification and real-time enforcement.
Suriya termed the incident “heartbreaking and unfair,” highlighting how it undermines the hard work of the entire team. He urged audiences not to engage with pirated content and to respect the creative effort behind films.
Other prominent voices, including Vijay Deverakonda, Chiranjeevi, Karthi, and Sivakarthikeyan, also condemned the leak, calling it unethical and damaging to the industry.
