IPL 2025 Mega Auction Scheduled for Late November in Riyadh

The Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 24-25. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided for the second year running to stage the auction outside the country. Last year's event was held in Dubai. Dates have been floated and are reportedly November 24-25, but awaiting official confirmation.

However, an issue could be that the proposed dates clash with India's five-match Test series opening against Australia, in Perth. The first Test starts on Nov 22. More importantly, the match will be telecast on Disney Star, that is, official broadcasters of the cash-rich league. Thus, all parties want to avoid an overlap.

Even though it would be late afternoon in India, the auction is likely to start around the same time back in Australia. Riyadh seems to be the hub for this event, although the Indian cricket board has specified Jeddah as a reserve venue. Earlier, they had shortlisted other places like Dubai, Singapore, and London, and at one point, Vienna was also on the card. However, it appears now that Saudi Arabia has been sealed off as the official destination.

Before the auction, each of the ten franchises is mandatorily required to submit their list of retained players. The deadline for which is quite strictly and firmly kept at 5 PM IST on 31st October.

That's what will be in the center of attention with this list of players, since more significant players will be released and become part of the bidding. MS Dhoni's IPL fate will also be decided.
