India will Host its Inaugural Global Summit for the Media and Entertainment Sector in November

India is set to host the inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in November, coinciding with the International Film Festival of India in Goa. During the statement, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw foreground scheme to strengthen intellectual property rights protection within the media and entertainment industry. Joined by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Vaishnaw distinguished WAVES, scheduled for November 20-24, as forward thinking initiative championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to host India’s stature in this sector.

“IP rights hold huge value in the media and entertainment sector. We will be strengthening the ecosystem for protecting IP rights,” Vaishnaw, the Information and Broadcasting Minister, said in his address at the hanging raiser event for WAVES.

Vaishnaw stated that the government is surveying strategies to supply affordable funding to the media and entertainment sector, drawing perception from the venture capital reach.

Sawant highlighted that WAVES will introduce a fresh point of view on industry cooperation, networking, and expansion within the media and entertainment sector. He highlighted that the sector had already created 3,000 hours of content for OTT platform in 2023 itself.

The International Film Festival of India will be held from November 20-28 in Goa, Sawant said.

With the media and entertainment sector worth at USD 27.5 billion in India, the government aims to establish WAVES as a platform for inspiring ideas, stimulating discussions, authorizing knowledge exchanging and clanging impactful collaborations with global industry leaders.

I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju stated that through WAVES, India aims to set itself up as a global leader in the media and entertainment sector, showcasing the country as business-friendly and an attractive investment destination. The event is planned to clang idea generation, stimulate discussions, and encourage meaningful partnership with international industry leaders.
