India to Host Its First BGMI LAN Tournament: Date, Venue, and Details
India is ready to organize its earliest BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) LAN event this November in Goa, marking a significant turning point for the country's esports scene. This highly-anticipated tournament is part of the larger "Create in India Challenge Season 1," which features 25 competitions approaching gaming, animation, music, and visual arts. The event will draw teams from both India and international locations, with registration currently open for Indian teams ready to take part in this tournament.
The tournament will kick off with online qualifiers held in four phases:
-
September 1 to 15 September
-
September 18 to October 2
-
October 4 to 19 October
-
October 21 to November 4
The top three teams from each competitor will earn a place in the Grand Finals, ensuing in a total of 12 teams. Alongside them, four international teams will get direct invitations, carrying the total number of finalists to 16. These teams will compete in the LAN event in Goa from November 20 to 24. The action, including the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Grand Finals, will be streamed live on YouTube.
Though the names of the international teams have not been disclosed yet, the tournament is expected to generate substantial interest and greatly improve the Indian esports scene. While states like Bihar have hosted esports events in the past, this marks the first time the Indian government is organizing a competition of this magnitude. This enterprise builds on the success of the 2023 BGMI Invitational, which was hosted by Krafton and showcased top teams from India and Korea.
