India's Sports Community Pays Tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh's Leadership and Wisdom

India’s sports fraternity expressed their grief over the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister renowned for his calm leadership and wisdom. He was 92 years old and breathed his last at AIIMS after he lost his consciousness following age-related health issues. Many had memories of how fondly they remembered him for the contributions he made to India's progress.

Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh shared his condolences on social media, stating, "Sad news of the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. A visionary leader and a true statesman who worked tirelessly for India's progress. His wisdom and humility will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones."

Harbhajan Singh, a Rajya Sabha member with the Aam Aadmi Party and also an old teammate of Yuvraj. He praised Singh as a gentleman and a vision carrier, underlining his calm time leadership during crises and faith in India's potential.

Sports Figures Remember Singh's Leadership

Former wrestler and presently Haryana Congress MLA, Vinesh Phogat, expressed that Singh is a person of wisdom, simplicity, and foresight. According to her, he is one among the few good thinkers and economists who is shaping India through its new economic reforms and a place in the world.

During Singh's tenure, India hosted the Delhi Commonwealth Games in the year 2010, which were the first major multi-sport event after the Asian Games of 1982 in India. It was part of a much larger vision in Singh's plans for India's development on the world stage.

Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, and Rani Rampal also joined the chorus of mourning Singh's death. They were not left out when it came to respecting his indelible impression upon the Indian polity and economy.

 Legacy of Economic Reforms

Before serving as Prime Minister for a span of ten years from 2004 to 2014, he had worked under P V Narasimha Rao as a finance minister. He was instrumental in liberalisation in India through economic reforms during his ministerial tenure in 1991. He was respected throughout his career because of his intellect and grace.

After serving for over three decades as a Rajya Sabha MP, Singh retired from active politics this April. He leaves behind a legacy, both in terms of his political achievements and personal qualities of humility and wisdom.

The nation grieves the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, whose leadership and contributions will be remembered for generations. His impact on India's growth is profound, leaving an enduring legacy in the country's history.
