India's Representation at the Paris Olympics 2024
India is sending a team 117 members at the 2024 Paris Olympics, containing 70 male and 47 female athletes taking part across 16 sports: Archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, equestrian, golf, hockey, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, wrestling, and weightlifting.
This is India’s second- largest contingent for an Olympic Games after Tokyo 2020. 121 Indian athletes took part in the Tokyo Games.
India’s contingent includes 21 shooters,the largest number from any single sport. Many athletes in India’s current contingent, totaling 72 will be participating in their first Olympics in Paris.
Among the 117-member contingent , there are five former medalists: Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, and the men’s hockey team. Neeraj Chopra is the sole Olympic gold medalist in India’s contingent.
Parul Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker are the sole Indians participating in multiple individual events at Paris 2024. Parul will compete in the women’s 5000m run and 3000m steeplechase, while Manu will participate in the women’s 10m air pistol mixed team, and 25m pistol shooting events.
At the Paris Olympics, the youngest Indian athlete is 14-year-old swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, while the oldest are 44-year-old tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and 42-year-old table tennis legend Sharath Kamal.
The Indian contingent also included 140 support staff members.
