India's First Post-production Facility Launched by Annapurna Studios

The first Dolby-certified post-production studio for homes and movies in India was opened by Annapurna Studios in partnership with Dolby. Renowned actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, Vice Chairman of Annapurna Studios, was present when the facility was unveiled by acclaimed director S S Rajamouli.

It's worth noting that the first Indian film presented in a Dolby Cinema was Rajamouli's Academy Award-winning RRR.

According to SS Rajamouli, "We had to travel all the way to Germany during the RRR era in order to grade the film in Dolby Vision. The fact that I couldn't watch my movie in Dolby Vision in my own nation was a little discouraging.  However, I'm overjoyed to see a Dolby Vision grading facility at Annapurna Studios today. "What's even more exciting is that there will be multiple Dolby Cinemas in India by the time my next film comes out," he continued. "Dolby Vision is a completely different experience—the pristine clarity and the way it brings out the subtleties of every frame elevate storytelling to a whole new level," he remarked. I'm very excited for audiences to see it!"

Annapurna Studios' vice chairman and spokesperson, Nagarjuna Akkineni, remarked on the studio's continued leadership in Indian film creativity. "From being a pioneer in virtual production to now housing the country’s first Dolby Certified post-production facility for cinema and home, the attempt has always been to put Indian films on the map." He went on, "This partnership with Dolby is a testimony to that vision as Annapurna Studios marks its 50th year. This is a further step in the direction of Annapurna's heritage of embracing innovation and change."

The importance of this milestone was emphasized by Supriya Yarlagadda, ED of Annapurna Studios."We are introducing a game-changing technology that will redefine how films are created and experienced in India," he said, referring to the Dolby Certified Postproduction Facility for both homes and cinemas. "Our goal is to enable filmmakers to convey their stories with unmatched impact and accuracy."
