HUL Slashes Prices on Lux, Dove & Bru: Shopper Delight

By Media Infotainment Team | Monday, 15 September 2025

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), which is one of the largest consumer goods companies in India, is ensuring that some of their best selling products are priced downwards.

The recent adjustments to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regulations will result in you paying less when you stock up on everyday favorites such as Lux soap, Dove shampoo and Bru coffee, beginning September 22, 2025.

HUL shared the exciting update through a bold, full-page ad in The Times of India, with the catchy headline, “What’s Good For India Is Good For HUL.” The company is passing on the savings from the GST cuts directly to customers, making it easier for families to buy their trusted brands.

“From soaps to shampoos to foods and more, you’ll find lower prices on the products you love, so you can save a bit more with every purchase,” HUL said in the ad.

Here’s what’s changing: a 340ml bottle of Dove shampoo, which used to cost Rs 490, will now be Rs 435—that’s a savings of about 11% or Rs 55 per bottle. Lux soap, a household staple, is dropping from Rs 96 to Rs 85, giving you roughly 11.5% off. Bru coffee is also part of the price cut, though specific details weren’t shared in the announcement. Additionally, Kissan ketchup will see a smaller reduction, going from Rs 100 to Rs 93, a 7% drop.

These price cuts come after the government lowered GST rates on certain everyday products to help ease the financial pinch for consumers. HUL, which makes over 35 brands like Lifebuoy, Surf Excel, and Brooke Bond, is already rolling out products with the new, lower prices or extra product for the same cost to stores nationwide.

Experts say this is a smart move for HUL, especially since many families are watching their budgets closely due to rising costs. “Lowering prices shows HUL cares about its customers, and it could help them sell even more in a competitive market,” said an industry insider. Rivals like Procter & Gamble and ITC might follow suit, which could spark more deals for shoppers.
