Give Gautam Gambhir Some Time to Get Used to His New Role as India's Coach: Anil Kumble
Gautam Gambhir's support came from former captain of India Anil Kumble, who said that the KKR coach is 'absolutely capable' of succeeding as the Indian cricket team's head coach once Rahul Dravid steps down. Despite the fact that the BCCI started looking for Dravid's replacement before the T20 World Cup started, Gambhir is the clear favorite to take over as India's next head coach.
After the World Cup in the United States and the West Indies, Rahul Dravid's term is expected to come to an end. Given that Dravid declared he would not be reapplying, it appears the BCCI has focused on Gautam Gambhir.
"You'll need to give Gambhir some time. He is undoubtedly competent. We have witnessed Gautam manage teams; he has led his franchise and served as captain of India. He is well qualified to be that. Indian team coaching, however, is a little bit different. Kumble said Star Sports, "So you will have to give him time to settle in."
Gambhir is not a qualified coach of a senior cricket team. The former India opener, though, has shown himself to be a superb man manager. As their mentor in the IPL 2022 and 2023, he guided the Lucknow Super Giants to the postseason in both of those seasons. For the first time since he left the team as a player in 2017, Gambhir was back at KKR. The two-time championship-winning captain was named the team's mentor, and he had an instant influence, leading KKR to victory in their third IPL crown on May 26.
