Ed Sheeran Launches Dream Project, Making Major Contribution to Music Industry
Ed Sheeran opened a new business with inspired ambitions of reflecting music. The singer of "Shape of You" has highlighted how music education is often undervalued in schools today.
British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran launched the 'Ed Sheeran Foundation' with an aim to inspire students and also develop music education for school kids.
The 33-year-old Perfect singer took to Instagram to share a video detailing the motivation behind establishing his foundation and the thought process that drove him to create this dream project.
Ed posted on his social media: “I set up @edsheeranfnd because recently there's been less and less importance being put on music education.” "Even when I was in school it was seen as a 'doss subject' and not taken seriously."
He emphasized that music is not regarded as a legitimate career. “the music industry accounts for 216,000 jobs in so many different fields, and bringing as much as £7.6 billion ($9.3 billion) in a year to the UK economy."
The artist of "Bad Habits" also shared that creative subjects were beneficial for his mental health during school, and he believes every child should have the opportunity to experience them.
Through the 'Ed Sheeran Foundation', young children are introduced to different micro skills like performing, songwriting, instrument playing among many others.
In addition, it will offer rehearsal areas, workshops for music, an instrument library, and mentoring schemes.
