Dulquer Salmaan Unveils Superhero Universe with Lokah - Chapter One: Chandra

Malayalam cinema is poised for a groundbreaking leap into the superhero genre with Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra, the latest production from Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. The first-look poster, unveiled on June 7, introduces a bold cinematic universe, headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen K. Gafoor, marking a historic moment for regional cinema.

Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra blends Malayalam culture and mythology with epic storytelling. The poster shows Kalyani in a fierce, action-ready pose, gripping a dagger on a battle-scarred field, while Naslen’s intense expression hints at deep emotional stakes. It’s Kalyani’s first time playing a superhero, a big shift from her usual roles, and Naslen’s energy is already generating buzz.

Dulquer, both a beloved actor and producer, shared his excitement on Instagram: “Here’s Lokah — a world where legends are born. Chapter One: Chandra. More to come!” This is Wayfarer Films’ seventh project and its most ambitious yet, with a hefty budget and international stunt coordinator Yannick Ben on board. The team also includes cinematographer Nimish Ravi, editor Chaman Chackko, and composer Jakes Bejoy, promising a visual and auditory treat.

The cast features Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, and Santhy Balachandran, who co-wrote the script with Arun. There’s also chatter about possible cameos from Dulquer and Tovino Thomas, though nothing’s confirmed yet. Filming wrapped in January 2025 after 94 days, and the movie is slated for a September release.
