Dhurandhar Sets New Benchmark with Record Rs 27 Crore Opening Day

Ranveer Singh’s latest release, Dhurandhar, has registered an impressive start at the box office, earning approximately ₹27 crore on its opening day.

The film released nationwide on December 5 and drew large footfalls across major cities. Its performance marks the highest Day-1 collection of Ranveer Singh’s career, surpassing his previous openers including Padmaavat (₹24 crore) and Simmba (₹20.72 crore).

Prior to release, early trade expectations suggested a more moderate opening in the range of ₹15–18 crore. However, strong advance bookings and steady walk-in audiences pushed the first-day numbers higher than predicted.

Multiplex chains in metro regions such as Mumbai and Delhi-NCR recorded strong turnout through the evening and night shows, contributing significantly to the final total.

Occupancy improved throughout the day, with several major circuits reporting above 55% turnout by late evening. Early audience response points to strong interest in the film’s action-driven storyline, music tracks, and Ranveer Singh’s lead performance. Single-screen theatres in tier-2 and tier-3 regions also reported encouraging attendance, which contributed to the strong overall opening number.
