Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Opens Strong with Rs 40 Cr India

The long-awaited anime movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -The Movie: Infinity Castle, directed by Haruo Sotozaki, has swept India with an amazing revenue of 40.35 crore on the first weekend.

This is the first book of a three-part movie trilogy that was released worldwide on September 12, and its breathtaking visuals and thrilling action have scored a big victory in Indian terms with regard to Japanese anime.

The movie, which was adapted by Ufotable studio, is a continuation of Tanjiro Kamado, who was a young warrior whose family was murdered by demons. Tanjiro, who is determined to save his sister Nezuko who has been transformed to a demon, becomes a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

In Infinity Castle he, his friends Zenitsu and Inosuke, and the elite Hashira warriors enter a mysterious castle, the Infinity Castle, to fight mighty Upper Rank demons within it. One of the most exciting encounters is between Tanjiro, Giyu Tomioka and powerful Akaza, which is the dream combination of animated fluidity and emotional narration by Ufotable.

The movie’s box office run kicked off with ₹13 crore on Friday, held strong at ₹13 crore on Saturday, and jumped to ₹14.35 crore on Sunday – a 10% boost that shows fans are spreading the word. Available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs, it’s pulling in crowds across the board. Sunday screenings saw solid turnout, with Japanese 2D shows at nearly 50% capacity, English 2D at 44%, and Hindi 2D at 32%.

Globally, Infinity Castle is a juggernaut, ranking as the fourth-highest-grossing Japanese film ever and Japan’s top earner of 2025, surpassing even Mugen Train. In India, where anime has exploded in popularity since the pandemic, this success highlights a growing love for the genre. The English dub, featuring Channing Tatum, adds extra star power, making it a hit with a wider audience.
