Dell Revives Alienware Area-51 Lineup with High-Performance Gaming PCs

By Media Infotainment Team | Wednesday, 26 March 2025

Alienware's Area-51 gaming PCs have been around for a long time, but they took a short break. That all changed when Dell introduced the Alienware Area-51 gaming desktop, Alienware 16 Area-51 gaming laptop, and Alienware 18 Area-51 gaming laptop.

Like the Area-51 hardware years ago, the new desktops and laptops have top-tier specifications that rival the top pre-built gaming PCs and gaming laptops.

Our Cale Hunt previously covered the new Alienware Area-51 PCs when they were first announced. I'll go over them below, but the big news here is that you can now purchase the devices through Dell.

Dell prioritized upgradeability for the Area-51 gaming desktop. That's a welcome focus, given that proprietary components have historically made upgrades difficult.

The Area-51 gaming desktop's 80L case can be opened with quick-release side panels, and there is plenty of space inside for repairs and upgrades.

The motherboard for the Area-51 gaming desktop has the standard ATX shape, but it only has two UDIMM slots.

In terms of processing power, the Area-51 gaming desktop takes the lead among pre-built PCs, powered by NVIDIA's next-generation RTX 5000 GPUs and Intel's Core Ultra Series 2 desktop chips.

Dell's website offers several configurations for the Alienware Area-51 gaming desktop. Interestingly, one of them is already discounted.

The Area-51 gaming desktop, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, is $400 off. That reduces the price to $4,649.99.

That is still a premium price, of course, but every bit of savings counts.

For those looking for peak performance, an RTX 5090 configuration is available for $5,499.99.

This gaming desktop features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080. When Alienware revived the Area-51 brand, the gaming desktop became easier to repair and upgrade.

Alienware Area 51 Gaming Laptops

The Area-51 laptops will also be available starting this week. Dell offers both 16-inch and 18-inch models.

The new laptops feature rounded aluminum chassis and an improved thermal design. With up to 280W of power between the CPU and GPU, these laptops currently provide the best performance in their category.

The bottom of the new Area-51 laptops has a glass panel that allows you to see the internal components.

Both new Area-51 laptops are equipped with NVIDIA's next-generation mobile GPUs and up to Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX mobile CPUs.

This gaming laptop features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080. Configurations begin at $3,199.99 for a model with 1TB of storage and 32GB of RAM, but you can go all out with 2TB of storage and 64GB of RAM for $3,599.99.
