By Media Infotainment Team | Saturday, 22 June 2024

For the second time in its 108-year existence, the Copa America football event will take place outside of South America. The United States of America will serve as the 2024 host nation, beginning on Friday. The opening game at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta will pit Canada, who are making their debut, against the defending champions, Argentina. On June 21, the Group A encounter begins at 5:30 AM IST. In India, every Copa America 2024 match will be webcast live.

In the 48th edition of the competition, 16 of the best football teams in the Americas will compete for the championship at Copa America 2024. Four groups have been formed from the teams.

Copa América 2024 Groups: Group A includes Argentina, Peru, Chile, and Canada. Group B includes Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica. Group C includes the United States, Uruguay, Panama, and Bolivia. Group D includes Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The Copa America 2024 final is scheduled on July 15 at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. The Copa America matches will take place in fourteen venues around the United States. The 2016 version was similarly held in the United States, with Chile winning on penalties following a goalless final against Argentina.

Uruguay, the Copa America's joint-most successful team with Argentina (15 championships), is in Group C alongside hosts USA. The Marcelo Bielsa-coached team will rely on Federico Valverde and Darwin Nunez to help them win the trophy for the first time since 2011.

Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, is pursuing a third major international trophy after winning the Copa America 2021 and the FIFA World Cup 2022. Brazil, the nine-time champions, is in Group D and will attempt to rebound from their sad loss to archrivals Argentina in the 2014 Copa America final at the Maracana.

Despite missing superstar Neymar due to injury, Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, as well as youthful phenom Endrick, will try to impress. Colombia, with veteran James Rodriguez and Luis Diaz on their roster, will also aim to fight for the crown.
