Canara Bank said on Sunday that their official X social media profile had been hacked and that their account had been hacked.

The hacker altered the handle's username to "ether.fi."

There are over 2.55 lakh followers on the official account (@canarabank).

The bank released a statement saying, "Canara Bank would like to inform all concerned that the bank's official X (formerly Twitter) account has been compromised."

It said, "All involved teams are looking into the situation and collaborating closely with X to get back access to Canara Bank X handle as soon as possible."

After the account was hijacked, no fresh posts were made until around 4 PM.

On its X page, the bank asked people not to submit anything.

"We'll let you know as soon as it's back up and operational in Canara Bank controls. The bank expressed sorry for the trouble caused.

On June 17, Axis Bank's support account on social networking platform X was compromised in a cyberattack of a similar nature.

Hackers published various postings on tech billionaire Elon Musk's firm Tesla at that period.

Axis Bank had replied in a post, saying, "We are looking into the possibility of the bank's help handle being hacked. We're working to find a quick solution to the problem. Please disregard any posts made during this time and refrain from clicking on any links that are not authorized.

Axis Bank stated in a different article that they have never requested any sort of personal information, including passwords for online and mobile banking, one-time passwords, ATM PINs, or anything else. We are sorry if this has inconvenienced you.
