The Bajaj Group 100-year journey, celebrated through an AI-crafted film, by Rajkumar Hirani, has brought the company’s Gandhian roots into focus as the conglomerate marks a century of operations in India.

Titled Kathni Karni Ek Si, the short film reflects on the Group’s legacy of ethics, trust, and nation-building while using artificial intelligence to tell a story that connects its founding ideals with the present day.

Founded in 1926 by freedom fighter and industrialist Jamnalal Bajaj, the Bajaj Group has grown into one of India’s most respected business houses. To commemorate its 100th anniversary, the Group chose storytelling as a way to reflect on its history and values. The result is a unique short film directed by renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, created entirely with the help of AI technology.

A Film That Revisits Bajaj’s Gandhian Legacy

The film imagines Mahatma Gandhi returning to modern-day India at the request of Jamnalal Bajaj to see whether the values they once stood for are still reflected in the Group’s functioning after 100 years. Through this fictional yet meaningful narrative, the company highlights principles such as honesty, responsibility, and commitment to society.

The title Kathni Karni Ek Si, meaning “actions should match words,” reflects a philosophy that has long been associated with the Bajaj family and its businesses. The message of the film centres on the belief that lasting success comes from staying true to one’s values and preserving the Bajaj legacy.

Rajkumar Hirani, known for directing socially driven and emotional films, took on the challenge of creating a fully AI-powered film for the first time. The filmmaker reportedly found the concept both different and creatively rewarding, especially because it allowed him to tell a story rooted in history through modern technology.

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, described the film as more than just a centenary celebration. According to him, it serves as a reflection of the values that have guided the organisation over generations and continue to shape its direction today.

AI Storytelling Marks a New Chapter for Bajaj

The film was developed in collaboration with Wondrlab India, which worked closely with Hirani to bring the concept to life. Members of the Bajaj family, who currently lead different Group businesses, also appear in the film, helping bridge the company’s past with its present leadership.

Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv, said the project represents the company’s belief in balancing innovation with responsibility. He noted that while artificial intelligence is changing industries, it can also help tell meaningful stories without losing human values.

The initiative also reflects a wider shift toward corporate storytelling and the use of emerging technology to build stronger emotional connections with audiences. By choosing an AI-based format, Bajaj Group has combined its century-old legacy with innovation, showing how traditional values and modern tools can work together.
