Apple Expected to Release Meta-Inspired Smart Glasses by 2027

Apple is reportedly planning to extend its visionOS-powered device list soon. The company launched its first mixed mixed-reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro, in 2023. Since then, it hasn't announced any major updates to the lineup expecting the timely updates to vision. But now a new report suggests that Apple’s Vision Products Group is working on at least four devices. While two of these devices are likely to arrive in 2027, at least one device is likely to be revealed in 2025 and one in 2026.

In his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple’s Vision Products team is developing two new mixed reality headsets similar to the Vision Pro, expected to be released in 2025 and 2026. The first device is a low-end Vision pro like MR headset that is likely to arrive in 2025. The headset could price around $ 2,000 and use slightly cheaper material. It is also likely to be powered by a small inferior processor and miss out an EyeSight feature that shows a user’s eyes on the front of the MR headset to enable nearby people to understand when the user is using apps and when they are impressed in an experience. 

The company is also developing a second-generation Vision Pro, which is anticipated to launch in 2026. This high-end mixed reality headset is expected to feature a faster chipset and support for more advanced Apple Intelligence capabilities. Gurman didn’t mention the possible pricing of this device in his newsletter. 

Beyond these, the company is also working on developing Meta’s Ray-Ban-like smart glasses. These smart glasses, just like Meta’s smart glasses, will authorize users to capture images, listen to music and get details from Apple intelligence. They are anticipated to launch sometime in 2027.

Lastly, Apple is also working on developing AirPods with cameras, something stated for a long time. These Airpods with cameras will use external cameras and Apple Intelligence to understand the surrounding environment and provide users with similar details. Their Airpods are predicted to arrive in 2027 along with Apple’s smart glasses.
