AI Becomes More Prevalent In Hindi Film Production
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making an impact in the Hindi film business, since increased use of such technology tools would assist makers save not only time but also money throughout the pre- and post-production stages of filmmaking.
The stakeholders believe that during the next two to three years, 40-50% of filmmakers will employ AI technologies at various phases of production, up from 15-20% currently.
During the same time frame, these stakeholders expect AI to help save 40% of the time required for post-production on a film, up from 20-25% currently. In terms of expenses, they believe that producers will be able to save 25-30% of the costs associated with film production during the same period, up from 15-20% currently.
In the last year and a half, filmmakers have increasingly used generative AI technologies at various phases of film production.
In the pre-production stage of a film, AI plays an important role in enhancing and giving valuable information on storyboarding, graphic design, screenplay, poster (stills), casting, set design, costuming, and reception, among other things.
Debashis Das, an editor and seasoned post-production expert, stated that "Today, all big production houses in the Hindi film industry are using AI tools in the pre-production stage."
Pitching concepts and ideas is one of the early stages of filmmaking where AI plays an important role.
Siddharth Roy Kapur, founder of Roy Kapur Films, stated, "Currently, I see AI tools being utilized by production houses, filmmakers, and writers to offer concepts and ideas. This allows for a clearer visual representation of the textual word."
