Abhishek Joshi Departs ShemarooMe After Notable Tenure
Abhisheik Joshi has resigned as the Head of ShemarooMe, Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd.'s digital streaming service, as per reports. His exit ends a stint during which the platform built its digital presence in India's intensely competitive OTT space.
Joshi onboarded ShemarooMe in March 2023 and was instrumental in reinforcing the platform's performance in both Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD) and Advertising-based Video on Demand (AVoD) segments. During his tenure, ShemarooMe expanded its content base to reach a broadened audience and improve its strategic positioning within the digital streaming ecosystem.
An experienced media and entertainment industry professional, Joshi had rich industry experience to take to ShemarooMe. He was lastly Senior Vice President and Business Head for SVoD and Business Partnerships at MX Player, where he played a critical role in conceptualizing and scaling MX Gold, the subscription service of the platform.
His professional experience also encompasses key leadership positions at Sony Pictures Networks India, where he led marketing, subscription, and content licensing of its digital arm, and Zenga Media, where he guided the company as CEO, steering mobile and digital video content delivery.
Insiders are waiting eagerly to see what is next for Joshi after he left Shemaroo and will undoubtedly have a strong history at leading media brands. Meanwhile, Shemaroo Entertainment has not named a successor.
