Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Shines as His 5th Highest-Grossing Film

The newest film of Aamir Khan, Sitaare Zameen Par, has cemented its reputation as a blockbuster movie, having already earned an impressive Rs 149.89 crore in only 18 days since its release on June 20, 2025. Under the direction of R.S. Prasanna, this heart touching sports drama has entered the list of top five highest-grossing movies of Khan, beating the lifetime earning of Thugs of Hindostan and Ghajini. It ranks after Dangal, PK, Dhoom 3 and 3 Idiots in the box office ratings of Khan.

Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to the 2007 masterpiece of Amir Khan, Taare Zameen Par, is about a basketball coach training a team of people with disabilities. The warm story of the movie along with the excellent acting by Khan, Genelia Deshmukh and a group of fresh faces makes the movie a hit with the audiences. It was released in the following versions- Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, and had a very good opening in terms of its word of mouth, making Rs 10.7 crore on its first day, Rs 20.2 crore on the second (Saturday), till a high of Rs 27.25 crore on the third (Sunday).

The opening week of the film ended strong at Rs 88.9 crore and the second weekend was a boost of Rs 46.5 crore. The success of the film is a comeback success of Khan after disappointing Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022. According to industry analysts, its emotional intensity, inclusion, and family friendly content are also the reasons why it is running strong. The film was produced on a budget of Rs 90 Crores, and has already returned a 44.2 percent of the money in it and it is estimated that it will gross above Rs 160 Crores by the time the film is over in the theatres.

Even with competition in fresh releases such as Maa to the F1, Sitaare Zameen Par is still pulling audiences through and that is why the movie has been able to claim position four in terms of grossing the fourth highest Hindi film of 2025 alongside Chhaava, Housefull 5, and Raid 2. Its mix of humor, heart and social messaging has earned raves by both critics and audiences alike, making Aamir Khan the Mr. Perfect of Bollywood.
