Control Resonant: A New Direction for Remedy’s Supernatural Universe

Remedy Entertainment is preparing to return to the strange and unsettling world of Control with Control Resonant, an upcoming game set to release in 2026. While it builds on the foundation of the original title, the new game takes the series in a noticeably different direction, both in gameplay and storytelling.

This time, players take control of Dylan Faden, a character who previously played a secondary role. After years under the watch of the Federal Bureau of Control, Dylan is forced back into action when a new paranormal threat begins to destabilise reality. The story focuses on his attempt to understand his own powers, confront the consequences of his past, and search for his missing sister, Jesse.

The change in the combat style of Control Resonant is one of the most significant ones. The game does not rely much on the use of firearms but rather emphasizes close-combat. Dylan has a mysterious, shape shifting weapon called the Aberrant that can transform itself when a combat is occurring. It enables quicker, more ferocious fights and offers more freedom to the players regarding the way they deal with enemies.

The game takes place in an alternate Manhattan, and it stretches farther than the walls that surround a good portion of the original Control. Players are able to visit interconnected spaces, follow optional missions, and discover bits of lore that are scattered around the spaces. Exploration and side objectives are greater influences to the experience, although the story is central.

Remedy claims that Control Resonant will be in the format of both a sequel and an introduction to new players. The same tropes of authority, self, and the unknown come about though the goal of the game is to be more accessible without losing the creepiness the series is known to offer.

Having its updated approach to combat, a new main character, and the expansion of the world, Control Resonant is a definite leap for the franchise- one to which the fans are eagerly looking forward as the game nears its launch.
